World's first visual localization environment for .NET to be demonstrated at International Unicode conference

Alchemy CATALYST™ provides the world's first visual localization environment for Microsoft's .NET framework.

DUBLIN and PORTLAND – April 19, 2002 – Alchemy Software Development Limited, the pioneer and market leader in visual translation and localization solutions today announced that its visual localization environment for Microsoft® .NET application will be demonstrated at the 21st International Unicode Conference, to be held on 14-17 May 2002 in Dublin, Ireland.

Maintaining its tradition as the pioneer of advanced technology in the localization industry, this new environment is the world's first visual environment for translating, engineering and testing Microsoft .NET applications.

“The Microsoft® .NET Framework heralds a new era of distributed computing across multiple platforms, be it desktop, wireless or mobile”, said Tony O'Dowd, CEO and President of Alchemy Software Development, “It presents new and complex localization challenges to software publishers. Our new .NET component plugs into the Alchemy CATALYST™ framework and provides visual environments, helping translators focus on the quality and precision of their translations, and reducing the engineering and testing time for .NET applications”.

“The introduction of the Microsoft® .NET Framework redefines the process and technologies that Localization Service Providers will have to master in order to translate and release localized applications to the international market”, said Enda McDonnell, Director of Development at Alchemy Software Development, “Using our .NET Visual Localization Component, translators, engineers and project managers will work in a visual environment that protects them from the complexities of the underlying XML file formats that are the cornerstone of the Microsoft® .NET Framework. In our preliminary tests, our customers have found that it reduces the time to translate and engineer .NET applications by as much as 50% making simultaneous release of language applications achievable.”

At the International Unicode Conference in Dublin delegates will be able to see for the first time the benefits of this new .NET visual localization component. On the stand there will be representatives from Alchemy Software Development available to discuss this exciting enhancement to the worlds leading localization development tool.

Microsoft® .NET is a set of Microsoft software technologies for connecting the world of information, people, systems, and devices. It enables an unprecedented level of software integration through the use of XML Web services: small, discrete, building-block applications that connect to each other-as well as to other, larger applications-via the Internet.
